There’s many ways to be a VTuber. Some people use a png or VTuber model character as an avatar, in lieu of a webcam/facecam, and simply stream as themselves. Others take a more ostentatious approach, and delve into roleplaying as though their character is real! This can involve using a different voice, mannerisms and personality while live streaming.
I’ve taken that to the next level, where I play my characters 100% of the time and never break character, not even on their socials! Every post, idea, feeling that you see from them is carefully cultivated, often times scripted, and is not at all reflective of myself or my own life. I’m a very private person, I like to do my job voice acting and then call it a day. So flexing my acting skills by streaming for sometimes hours as a character is a unique challenge that I really enjoy!

Unfortunately, this method of VTubing is not at all common in the western VTubing community, so it’s been an uphill battle for me to help people to understand that when they’re seeing or interacting with my characters, they are not interacting with ME. It’s doubly confusing as I also use Taiga-tan as my mascot for my voice acting, so people may be used to associating me with her.

Sometimes dressing up to stream and putting on makeup is such a pain in the ass…Meet Karen, a 32 year old Kiwi woman who is recently divorced, perpetually tired and down on her luck. When she feels up to really going all-out with streaming, Karen transforms into her e-girl persona/alter-ego – Taiga-tan! It’s truly amazing what makeup, wig, contact lenses and a costume can do. Oh, and three hours to get ready, which is why it doesn’t happen too often.
With renewed confidence and a sassy gremlin attitude, she’s ready to stream on Twitch and explore everything she’s missed out on during the hardest years of her life. She feels incredibly sexy when wearing this getup, and even adopts a different voice and mannerisms. Her favourite is streaming on Fansly where she can REALLY show off EVERYTHING.
